What standards are Apramo car seats tested to?
All Apramo Car Seats are rigorously tested in line with the applicable standards. There are currently 2 approved safety standards for car seats sold in the UK and the EU, the original safety standard R44 (also known as ECE R44) and the newer regulation R129 (also known as UN Regulation 129) - this is a higher safety standard that was introduced from July 2013 and includes i-Size car seats.
R44 is designed in relation to your child’s weight, using 5 weight groups – Group 0, 0+, 1, 2 and 3
R129 is designed in accordance to your child’s height, with an additional upper weight limit given for ISOFIX seats
Both tests operate at the same speeds (The frontal impact testing is conducted at 32 mph, while the rear impact testing is conducted at 18 mph), but they are conducted using different types of dummies with different sensors and R129 includes a side impact test conducted at 15mph. Both are approved to be sold in Great Britain for the foreseeable future, and this is supported by both the UK Department of Transport and the BPA (Baby Products Association) who have both stated their confidence in continued sales of R44.
How come I've never heard of you before?
We've been around for years, you just didn't know it! We have been manufacturing car seats for a long time and our seats have been sold under many different brand names! When we launched a new product, the Flippa - our founder Johnny created Apramo, to sell our own products directly to you, the customer.

What doees R44 and R129/i-size mean & What are their differences?
In the UK and the EU, car seats are approved to one of two regulations:
→ ECE R44 uses child weight as the classification guide
→ ECE R129 / i-Size uses child height as the classification guide
ECE R129 (i-Size)
i-size seats are based on the child's height rather than weight
i-size uses the child's height to determine if the seat fits the child, rather than their weight. So, it's important to check that your child's height is within the range of the seat. Parents tend to know their child's height better than their weight, which should make it easier for parents to judge if the seat is suitable for their child and when they should move the child into a larger seat.
i-size rearward-facing restraints are for babies up to 15 months old
Babies in i-size car seats stay rearward-facing until they are at least 15 months old. Currently, parents often move their baby to a forward-facing seat too soon.
side impact test
i-size includes a side impact test to ensure that the seats provide better protection from side impact collisions.
ECE R44 car seats are divided into three groups and it is essential that you choose the right seat that fits your child’s weight.
Group 0+ (birth to 13kgs)
Group I (9 - 18kgs)
Group II (15-25kgs)
Group III (22 - 36kgs)
R44 seats can be installed using either the ISOFIX system or the vehicles seat belts.
What does an ISOFIX fitting mean?
ISOFIX allows for easy installation.
Car seats, seat belts, and seat belt anchorages vary dramatically between cars. Car seats have different shapes; some seat belts are shorter than others, and some anchor points are further forward or have shorter stalks than others. All this makes it tricky to fit a child car seat correctly, and surveys consistently find that a high proportion of child car seats are fitted incorrectly.
Isofix provides a more secure and easier way of attaching child seats in cars. Fitting points are built into both cars and child car seats when they are manufactured. An Isofix child seat is 'plugged' into the corresponding fitting points in the car, removing the need to use the car's seat belts to secure it.
What is Avia-fix?
Avia-fix allows you to install into your cars ISOFIX points.
It is approved to the latest i-Size regulation.
